Dr. Michael Hemsley received his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, after which he pursued an internship and residency in the field of Internal Medicine at the University of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles.  He brings to his current position as Medical Director of the Hudson County Correctional Center and Juvenile Detention Center a wealth of experience.  He has served as the Medical Director of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and as the Medical Director of the California Department of Corrections Juvenile Justice Facility in Camarillo, California.  After moving to northern New Jersey, he worked as the Assistant Medical Director for the Essex County Correctional Center prior to his current position at Hudson County Correctional Center.
